About The Position

The Fabricator interprets basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine the appropriate work methods and techniques. The role sets up and operates welding, brazing, and flame-cutting equipment; performs basic saw operations and painting as needed; and uses mathematical knowledge and precision instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances and inspect completed units. The Fabricator also supports quality and production requirements by identifying and reporting issues, completing documentation, participating in team meetings, following safety procedures, and maintaining equipment and the work area.

Responsibilities

Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine applicable methods and techniques.
Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting; adjust current, amperage, gas pressures, and controls; select appropriate rods, wire, tips, and electrodes; and fit, position, and secure work using holding devices.
Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
Measure, examine, and test completed units as needed to detect defects and verify conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
Assist in detecting defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties and report them to a supervisor.
Complete documentation required to meet quality and production requirements.
Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve cost, quality, or production issues, and understand and apply the engineering change request process.
Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Maintain equipment and the work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
Perform other duties as assigned.
