About The Position

Ascend Staffing is hiring immediately for a Fabrication position in Ida Grove, IA. This role involves leading daily fabrication operations, ensuring efficient production schedules, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The position requires operating and overseeing fabrication equipment such as punch presses, brake presses, and shears. Responsibilities include setting up machines, monitoring production runs, implementing Lean manufacturing principles, training team members, inspecting parts, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Fabrication experience preferred
  • Able to work in the US
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Hands-on experience operating and setting up punch press, brake press, and other fabrication machinery.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, tolerances, and quality inspection methods.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and sustaining Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily fabrication operations, ensuring efficient production schedules and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Operate and oversee use of fabrication equipment including punch presses, brake presses, shears, and other metal fabrication tools.
  • Set up machines, verify tooling, and monitor production runs for accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow, reduce waste, and optimize production efficiency.
  • Train and mentor team members on fabrication techniques, equipment operation, and safety best practices.
  • Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for conformance to engineering drawings and quality specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot production issues, equipment malfunctions, and quality defects.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical problems and implement process improvements.
