Receives limited supervision. Performs general arc welding (“MIG”) process, operates machinery to perform grinding; may be required to be trained in using Hyd & CNC brake press and shears & CNC plasma cutting. Fabrication jobs typically consist of a complex variety of processes and assembly, for completing assigned tasks with high quality and on schedule. Must use AWS standards/processes certified in both hardwire and flux core wire welding processes. Reads and follows plans, material lists and guidelines and applies necessary timelines. Operates welding equipment, arc gouging equipment, oxy-fuel and brazing torches, jigs, holding fixtures, measuring instruments, personal computer (PC) and hand tools. Conducts visual and dimensional check of own work and completed work of lower level welders plus provides work assistance/guidance/training to lower level Welders as required. Follows general work orders and specific safety procedures in the fabrication of difficult production parts and a variety of sub and final weldments of all sizes and configurations through general arc welding, MIG. Work requires hand set-ups. Completes, modifies, and/or enhances final products as required. Operates drill press, brake press & other equipment. Must read drawings (blueprints) in order to fabricate a variety of complex, low and high-volume parts. Required to inspect & approve own work prior to next operation. Mains work area, equipment and supplies in neat, organized manner. Final inspection of finished work and timely completion of associated paperwork. Provide assistance to co-workers as requested by department management.
