About The Position

RDR Utility Services Group is hiring a welder for its Piping and Mechanical Fabrication shop division. The welder reports directly to the shop supervisor and works in a busy fabrication shop. Using drawings or actual examples, the welder assembles new or replacement parts and mechanical structures with precision.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of proven welding experience.
Experience with MIG welding.
Experience using electrical or manual tools, such as saws, squares, calipers, cutting torches, and shears.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing, such as a face shield and gloves.

Nice To Haves

TIG welding experience.
Professional certification, such as an AWS welding certificate.
Experience with CNC equipment and machines.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layouts and procedures.
Select appropriate welding equipment or methods based on job requirements.
Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
Align and clamp components using tools such as calipers and rulers.
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures for flaws.
Maintain equipment in a safe condition.
Produce templates and other work aids.
