About The Position

The Fabrication Technician I - Powder Coat position at Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is responsible for loading and unloading materials onto the powder-coat line and may operate the powder-coat booth. This role involves applying powder to parts according to customer specifications, inspecting finished work to ensure it meets quality and customer standards, and maintaining high performance to achieve production and quality targets. The position also emphasizes fostering a safe, engaged, and inclusive workplace by adhering to company policies, using personal protective equipment, operating equipment safely, and completing assigned 5S tasks. The technician will use travel documents, blueprints, and instructions to operate the powder-coat line, maintain progress, communicate issues, identify process improvements, and conduct root-cause analysis. Quality verification includes measuring parts, visual inspections, identifying nonconforming components, and troubleshooting defects. Cross-training and supporting other team members are also key aspects of the role. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
  • Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Greenwood, SC will be considered (Active-Duty Military Service members are exempt).
  • Strong verbal and written communication, persuasive abilities, and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and teams in a collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as business needs require.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, step ladders, and cranes to assemble products and verify quality in a Lean environment.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands for handling and feeling.
  • Frequently required to stoop, lift, carry, push, and pull.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and push/pull 50 lbs. or more with or without accommodation.
  • Vision requirements include near and far vision, depth perception, and color discrimination.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reading blueprints, manufacturing diagrams, drawings, or operating instructions.
  • Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Experience working with Eaton systems, including DMM and AS400.

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement and conducting root-cause analysis when quality or production challenges occur.
  • Verifying product quality by measuring finished parts using tape measures and/or calipers, performing visual inspections, identifying nonconforming components, and troubleshooting defects.
  • Cross-training in additional tasks and providing support to other team members or functions as needed.
