About The Position

The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for leading the fabrication department, ensuring quality, productivity, people, and process across the fabrication floor during the night shift. This role involves managing the transformation of raw material into precision defense and aerospace hardware. Through the Ownership For All program, eligible full-time employees receive an ownership stake in GTC, becoming an owner from day one.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of supervisory experience in aerospace or defense fabrication.
  • Clear communication skills in all directions.
  • Ability to stay organized under pressure.
  • Problem-solving skills to build real solutions.
  • High school diploma required.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of electronic time and labor systems.
  • Thorough understanding of fabrication operations and machinery.
  • Leadership instincts to make good calls quickly.
  • Ability to be on feet and moving across the production floor for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, reach, climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Adequate vision to inspect detailed components and read blueprints.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate and respond to safety alarms in a noisy environment.
  • Composure to lead effectively when deadlines tighten and stakes are high.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the fabrication department, ensuring materials are staged, assignments are clear, and team members understand their tasks, standard times, and manufacturing methods.
  • Hold the line on standard operating procedures and frozen processes, ensure work instructions are followed correctly, and verify that every characteristic is inspected and recorded.
  • Conduct root cause investigations for discrepancies, implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, and collaborate with technical services, quality assurance, and NDT to reduce non-conformance risk and process variation.
  • Monitor production progress in real time, anticipate and address potential disruptions, and actively participate in daily scheduling and coordination meetings.
  • Schedule and coordinate overtime when required by the production demands.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement focus, identifying and acting on opportunities to reduce waste and improve processes.
  • Train team members in their primary assignments and cross-train them to strengthen the department.
  • Conduct objective performance appraisals on schedule.
  • Recognize outstanding performance both verbally and in writing.
  • Handle disciplinary matters with consistency, fairness, and dignity.
