About The Position

SSW Advanced Technologies, LLC is seeking an Onsite Fabrication Supervisor for its growing multinational appliance OEM supplier business. With over 70 years of expertise, the company designs and sells components and systems to various markets including residential appliances, commercial refrigeration, HVAC, and retail display. The primary focus of this position is to lead, develop, and support Production Associates while continually improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost of the operation. This frontline leadership role is within a manufacturing environment experiencing fast growth and requires a strong balance of people leadership, technical process expertise (fabrication and projection welding), and an operational excellence mindset. The Supervisor is expected to develop team capability, eliminate waste, and sustain performance improvements in a high-accountability culture. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience supervising fabrication and/or projection welding operations
  • Demonstrated success working in a lean manufacturing environment, including: Participation in or leadership through a lean transformation or operational excellence initiative, Sustaining gains post-implementation (not just exposure), Strong track record of improving Productivity, Scrap reduction, Labor efficiency, On-time delivery performance
  • Experience with high-mix, variable-demand production environments preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and production reporting systems

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree or certification in Welding, Manufacturing Technology, Business, Teaching or related field (preferred)
  • Formal Training in: Lean Manufacturing (TPS or equivalent), Statistical Process Control/Six Sigma, Leadership
  • Lean certification (Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Practitioner, or equivalent) – preferred
  • Welding-related certifications (AWS or equivalent) – preferred
  • Safety or environmental certifications – a plus
  • Change Management certification – a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead a safety-first culture with zero-incident mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards.
  • Drive proactive hazard identification and root cause resolution.
  • Execute daily and weekly production schedules with high schedule adherence.
  • Manage workflow across fabrication processes, including Straight & Cut, Press & Bend, Projection Welding / Resistance Welding, and Secondary fabrication operations.
  • Adjust labor and priorities in real-time to meet demand and resolve constraints.
  • Own and drive performance metrics: Quality (PPM, scrap, rework), Delivery (on-time completion, throughput), and Cost (labor efficiency, overtime, productivity).
  • Actively manage performance gaps through structured problem solving (A3, 5-Why, root cause analysis).
  • Lead and sustain lean practices including standard work, 5S and visual management, and waste elimination (scrap, motion, waiting, overproduction).
  • Participate in or lead kaizen events and improvement initiatives.
  • Reinforce behavior change to sustain improvements following transformation efforts.
  • Lead, coach, and develop fabrication personnel and leads.
  • Drive accountability through performance management and daily feedback.
  • Execute and improve training programs, cross-training, and skill development plans.
  • Build bench strength and promote internal advancement.
  • Ensure accuracy of production reporting, labor tracking, and scrap reporting.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper transactions and material consumption.
  • Enforce adherence to standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Partner daily with Maintenance (equipment uptime, preventive maintenance), Engineering (tooling, process improvements, launches), and Materials (production scheduling, shortages, inventory control).
  • Support new product introductions and process changes within fabrication.
  • Demonstrates strong ownership of results and team performance.
  • Effectively coaches, develops, and holds team members accountable.
  • Deep understanding of lean principles and ability to apply them in daily operations.
  • Experience sustaining improvements post-transformation.
  • Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication processes and projection welding.
  • Ability to troubleshoot process, quality, and equipment issues.
  • Uses structured problem-solving methods to address root causes.
  • Supervise all operators and leads assigned to the Fabrication Department on First Shift.
