About The Position

The Fabrication Operator I supports manufacturing operations by fabricating, modifying, and finishing standard and custom metal components using hand tools, power tools, and production equipment. The role helps ensure safe, efficient, high-quality production while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The operator follows blueprints, work instructions, and production documents; verifies material dimensions; and supports quality, safety, and productivity requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial experience preferred.
• Experience using hand and power tools is beneficial.
• Basic blueprint reading and interpretation.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure, including inch and metric measurements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift.
• Frequent use of hands and arms to perform fabrication tasks.
• Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely perform repetitive motions.
• Close vision and ability to inspect product quality.

Responsibilities

• Grind, drill, bend, punch, roll, cut, saw, route, and sand metal surfaces using hand and power tools.
• Assist in fabricating and assembling standard and custom metal components.
• Read and interpret basic blueprints, work instructions, and production documents.
• Measure materials using standard measuring devices and verify dimensions.
• Support production activities to meet quality, safety, and productivity requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with nVent safety standards and 5S principles.
• Perform material handling using approved equipment and methods.
• Report equipment, quality, and safety concerns to leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
