About The Position

The Fabrication Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, coordinating, and staffing the Fabrication department. This role is accountable for meeting production, quality, and safety targets, and directly managing, coaching, and developing all fabrication personnel. The manager will be responsible for performance management, including coaching, discipline, and input into hiring and termination decisions. This position requires managing the department in a cost-effective manner through sound production planning and resource allocation, and exercising independent judgment in production scheduling, staffing, and operational decision-making. The role also involves maintaining necessary tools, equipment, and supplies, reviewing production and welding records, partnering with Welding Engineering, and identifying/implementing process improvements. Additionally, the Fabrication Manager will assist with equipment acquisition, maintain shop cleanliness, generate non-compliance reports, and promote a safe working environment in accordance with HSE procedures and NOV Company policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years experience in fabrication and/or manufacturing environment
  • 2–5 years experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound operational decisions
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels
  • Team building and employee development skills
  • Computer literacy (including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of welding and heat-treating processes
  • Must be able to do extensive walking, bending, stooping, and moderate to heavy lifting

Nice To Haves

  • Oilfield equipment manufacturing knowledge preferred
  • Working knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies preferred

Responsibilities

  • Organizing, planning, coordinating, and staffing the Fabrication department

  • Reviewing production and welding records for accuracy and performance tracking
  • Partnering with Welding Engineering to review and ensure adherence to welding procedures and specifications
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Assisting and recommending equipment acquisition, upgrades, and process improvements
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the fabrication shops
  • Generating non-compliance reports and initiating corrective and preventative actions
  • Maintaining and promoting a safe working environment in accordance with HSE procedures
  • Complying with all NOV Company and Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Ensuring alignment with company objectives and operational goals
  • Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager
