About The Position

Join us as a Part-time Fabric Worker (Tailor) at Fallon Navy Exchange in Fallon, NV with the Navy Exchange Service Command. This role is critical in supporting U.S. Navy members and their families by providing essential alteration and repair services for clothing and uniforms. The Fallon NEX is a high-volume military retail location, and this position offers a dynamic work environment supporting the "Top Gun" training facility.

Requirements

One year of experience in basic modifications, alterations, and repair of clothing.
One year of experience in the use of a sewing machine to perform alterations and repairs on garments.
Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and kneel to measure and mark items.
Ability to sit for long periods while operating a sewing machine or doing hand sewing.
Continual use of hands, arms, and fingers is required for sewing and using shears.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED may be substituted for general experience.

Responsibilities

Modifies, alters, and repairs clothing, including pinning, basting, trimming, lengthening, shortening sleeves, taking in and letting out waists, replacing zippers, lowering collars, replacing pockets, shortening and lengthening pants, tapering skirts, and sewing on ratings and stripes.
Receives special orders for affixing medals, ribbons, badges, devices, and ratings onto uniforms, measuring for correct placement, marking, trimming, basting, and pressing.
Operates a sewing machine and maintains a clean and orderly working area.
Receives garments for laundering and dry cleaning, completing tickets with necessary information and preparing items for pick-up.
Handles pick-up of cleaned articles, verifying tickets and collecting payments.
Operates a cash register, manages a cash fund, and prepares daily sales reports.
Requisitions and maintains adequate stock levels.
Assists in inventory taking.
Exercises tact, good manners, and courtesy when serving and assisting customers, responding to inquiries promptly and in a friendly manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
