Preparing new uniforms for the incoming Plebe class, performing sizing alterations for all Midshipmen, and repairing uniforms when maintenance is needed, our staff works directly with Midshipmen, military and civilian staff. Weekday, 8-hour shifts, with rare weekend shifts in support of workload. This position is located in the Midshipmen Repair Tailor Shop, part of the U. S. Naval Academy's Non-Appropriated Fund Instrumentality (NAFI), Naval Academy Business Services Division (NABSD), Annapolis, Maryland. NAFI is an entity that generates its own funds through its operations, and is not funded by Congress. The Fabric Worker is occasionally required to work in alternative work spaces. Incumbent alters garments, and replaces parts that are damaged. Incumbent lets out or takes in side seams, hems pants and skirts, attaches insignia, manufactures brigade flags, and removes sleeve lace.
