About The Position

The Fabric Cutter position at Melanzana is a full-time role with a 4-day work week (32 hours per week), starting at $21/hour. This role is crucial for the production process, interfacing with sewing and quality control departments. The primary purpose is to cut fabric according to Melanzana's specifications and quality standards, aligning with the Production Planning Timeline to ensure continuous product availability. On-the-job training is provided for suitable candidates.

Ability to communicate within the departmental team and with sewers as needed, in a clear and professional manner.
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
Ability to pick up 65lb fabric rolls on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

Operate industrial equipment for cutting fabric, always wearing appropriate protective gear provided by the company.
Inspect fabric for flaws and skew while rolling out.
Operate the ink cup printing machine for merino products.
Re-cut defective pieces, marked while rolling out.
Make suggestions on dealing with less-than-optimal fabric based on current supply.
Constantly improve skills, efficiency, and knowledge of procedures for all fabric types.
Help other fabric cutters, sharing techniques to improve skills of the whole team.
Perform basic machine maintenance.
Maintain and clean cutting area and tools as needed.
Attend “All Staff” employee meetings and other scheduled department meetings.
Help maintain fabric inventory and keep it organized.
Assist with all fabric deliveries and movement of fabric.
