About The Position

The Cutter position will provide services to ensure that fabrics are cut to customer (Internal and External) specifications. This position is also responsible for ensuring that pattern pieces are properly organized and properly distributed to the sewing work-stations, all within the quality standards of Wieland Designs, Inc.

Requirements

  • Basic Windows computer skills.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Demonstrate ability to read measurement tools to 1/8 inch and convert into decimals.
  • Ability to handle continuous lifting of 25 pounds.
  • Must be to work in standing position for duration of shift in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to be flexible and perform various other job duties as needed.
  • General understanding of ISO procedures
  • Must be able to work continuously in a standing position for the duration of a shift (10 hours), pull fabric with hands, and lift 10 pounds continuously and occasionally 25 pounds.
  • Repetitive movements required with arms and hands while grasping and handling cut pieces of material.
  • Must be able to read English and scan bar code tickets into the computer system, and learn basic computer commands.
  • Must have good visual ability in order to determine fabric patterns and make color distinctions on various fabric and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Identify fabric on storage rack record to assure proper placement of materials.
  • Scan fabric tickets and enter information into system.
  • Complete ticket on covering material, recording amount used.
  • Report any non-conformances to the immediate supervisor.
  • Understand instructions on cut sheets to pull appropriate materials and placing them on appropriate cut tables.
  • Operate automated cutting equipment in a safe manner.
  • Responsible for automated cutting equipment performance and keep maintenance records updated.
  • Responsible for efficient operations from the automated cutting equipment.
  • Check materials for accurate yardage.
  • Cut material to cut sheet standards.
  • Operate system for automated cutting equipment cutter software.
  • Dispose of recyclable materials, removing them from area.
  • Keep area clean and free of debris.
  • Retrieve proper fabric rack, according to production schedule.
  • Pull fabric from transporting roll and place on cutting table to specified length.
  • Calculate amount of yards used from fabric rolls and update roll tag.
  • Double check for proper amount of fabric layers on cutting table according to production schedule.
