About The Position

Thousand Hills State Park features Forest Lake, a 573-acre reservoir created by the damming of Big Creek and serves as a fresh water supply to the population of Kirksville, Missouri. This site provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, fishing, boating and water skiing. Thousand Hills Hospitality will offer a retail gift shop, full-service restaurant, cabin style lodging as well as boat and slip rentals. We pride ourselves in providing top notch customer service and helping families make memories in the State Park for years to come! This is a seasonal position will have a start date in July & an end date at the end of November. We're looking for someone to lead our staff at Lakeside Grill in preparing and providing great food and beverages while delivering outstanding guest service. Summary of Position: Responsible and accountable for ensuring all restaurant staff is trained in proper service techniques and sanitation guidelines. Also responsible for coaching and mentoring all direct reports to ensure effective employee development.

Requirements

  • Possess ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills to interact positively with others
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure
  • Possess strong leadership and managerial skills that include the ability to coach, develop and clearly communicate expectations
  • Dependable to always be on time and on schedule
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office and familiarity with POS systems
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to perform with the highest professional and ethical standards
  • Majority of shift will be spent on feet in a fast-paced environment, in close proximity to other people
  • Able to lift frequently up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Position also involves frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting and up to 8 hours per day on feet in a fast paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in Hospitality, Culinary or related field is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers entering the store & provide friendly customer service
  • Guide and direct customers to appropriate menu items of interest and answer related inquiries
  • Ensure accuracy of all guest orders by maintaining expert knowledge of Point-of-Sale(POS) system(s)
  • Possess thorough and accurate knowledge of menu items and specials
  • Assist customers with all park related inquiries (utilizing approved NPS interpretive information)
  • Provide technical training and support to less experienced Cafe staff and model professionalism with guests and other employees at all times
  • Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point of sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards and making change
  • Restock and maintain displays (labeling correctly as needed) per Company standards
  • Participate in closing, opening procedures
  • Participate in daily cleaning/maintenance duties
  • Contribute to a positive environment where all employees trust and respect each other
