About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Extrusion Press Hot Saw Inspector (Extrusion B) ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Extrusion Press Hot Saw Inspector (Extrusion B) will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. The general purpose of the Extrusion Press Hot Saw Inspector (Extrusion B) is to work as part of the extrusion team, running the extrusion saw safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the extrusion saw in a safe productive manner, making sure to not overload part cradles or damage parts during the stacking process.
  • Measure and examine extruded products during routine quality checks with the intent to locate defects and check part conformance to specifications found on blueprints.
  • Determine setup procedures according to specifications and document any inconsistencies or changes.
  • Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance on the extrusion saw and press area. (Ex. Monitor oil levels, change and replace worn tooling, basic cleaning).
  • Accurately use ERP system to document machine rates, scrap rates, material usage to facilitate an efficient and lean production environment.
  • Communicate within the team or organization using email to discuss changes in production schedule or machine issues.
  • Operate cranes and forklifts to move raw material and tooling when needed.
  • Be able to perform duties and responsibilities of Extrusion C as needed to cover vacation, absences, breaks, etc.
  • Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments.
