Extrusion Operator

About The Position

The Extrusion Operator assists higher-level Extrusion Operators with order changes and equipment set-ups, performs product quality inspections and tests, and prepares rolls and related production documentation. The role also monitors silo levels and rail-car unloading, operates the scrap grinder as needed, transports roll stock to the warehouse, and follows plant safety and food-safety requirements. The schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday, plus every other Saturday.

Requirements

Ability to add and subtract three-digit numbers and multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
Ability to perform mathematical operations using American money and units of weight, volume, and distance.
Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
Ability to frequently talk, hear, and push round rolls weighing 140–600 pounds.
Ability to occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
Close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Assist Extrusion Operators II, III, and IV with order changes and set-ups.
Perform quality inspections and tests.
Cut rolls, weigh them, and prepare roll tickets.
Monitor and measure silo levels and rail-car unloading.
Prepare production logs, product tags, and time cards as necessary.
Operate the scrap grinder as required and understand the recycle system.
Transport roll stock to the warehouse.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Follow and participate in plant safe-housekeeping guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
Comply with SQF/HACCP requirements under the location’s written Food Safety & Quality Policy.
