About The Position

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up jobs on the extruder. This includes changing the die set, putting on deckles, setting gaps on rollers, filling the extruder with materials, and maintaining the extruder to produce rolls of plastic to be sold or used in production. All work is performed in a climate-controlled environment. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who enjoys using hand tools and is accountable for monitoring and troubleshooting extruder issues, overseeing job completion, and completing required paperwork regarding equipment maintenance, job setup, and quality standards. Responsibilities also include changing rolls on the extruder, using a hoist to lift and carry rolls, performing maintenance activities, assisting with other departmental tasks, and following good manufacturing practices for product safety. The role requires the ability to work independently with sound technical judgment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Attention to detail
Dexterity and the ability to work quickly and accurately
Proficiency in English
Prior Extrusion Experience
Ability to work independently and have sound technical judgment to work without much technical direction from manager.
Must be able to train on 1st shift for up to one month.

Responsibilities

Setting up jobs on the extruder, including changing the die set, putting on deckles, and setting gaps on rollers.
Filling the extruder with materials.
Maintaining the extruder to produce rolls of plastic.
Monitoring and troubleshooting any problem with the extruder.
Overseeing each job that runs and ensuring each job is completed.
Understanding and completing the required paperwork regarding equipment maintenance, job setup and quality standards.
Changing the rolls on the extruder, using a hoist to lift and carry the roll to the skid.
Perform maintenance activities on the extruder.
Help with other tasks within the department.
Follows good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.
