About The Position

The Extrusion Operator is responsible for setting up jobs on the extruder. This includes changing the die set, putting on deckles, setting gaps on rollers, filling the extruder with materials, and maintaining the extruder to produce rolls of plastic to be sold or used in production. All work is performed in a climate-controlled environment. This role requires the ability to work independently and have sound technical judgment to work without much technical direction from a manager. The operator must follow good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Attention to detail
  • Dexterity and the ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Proficiency in English
  • Prior Extrusion Experience
  • Ability to work independently and have sound technical judgment
  • Frequent lifting of 15-25 lbs/Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs/More than 50 lbs requires a team lift
  • Frequent repetitious tasks with upper extremities
  • Prolonged periods of standing on concrete floor
  • Ability to correctly wear/use personal protective equipment including long sleeves as required
  • Frequent climbing steps and/or ladders while working on elevated platforms
  • Must be able to train on 1st shift for up to one month.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up jobs on the extruder, including changing the die set, putting on deckles, and setting gaps on rollers.
  • Filling the extruder with materials.
  • Maintaining the extruder to produce rolls of plastic.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting any problem with the extruder.
  • Overseeing each job that runs and ensuring each job is completed.
  • Understanding and completing the required paperwork regarding equipment maintenance, job setup and quality standards.
  • Changing the rolls on the extruder, using a hoist to lift and carry the roll to the skid.
  • Performing maintenance activities on the extruder.
  • Helping with other tasks within the department.
  • Following good manufacturing practices to ensure product safety.
