About The Position

The Extruder Operator is responsible for various tasks related to packaging, quality control, material requirements, and machine configuration. This role requires adherence to specific quality control plans and the ability to operate machinery and measuring devices. The position involves physical demands and working in a warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School diploma or its equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Reliance on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of machinery, small hand tools, and precision measuring devices.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug screen
  • Successfully pass pre-employment physical health evaluation
  • Ability to measure and read accurately with a caliper.
  • Ability to effectively use a comparator for quality control.
  • Ability to operate a forklift upon completion of in-house certification.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging merchandise in boxes/crates according to the appropriate counts found on the Quality Control Plan.
  • Taping/banding boxes/crates.
  • Completion of labels for boxes/crates and affixing appropriate labels to boxes/crates/reels according to the Quality Control Plan.
  • Palletizing boxes to be shipped according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan.
  • Shrink wrap pallets according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan.
  • Banding pallets according to specifications on the Quality Control Plan.
  • Reading, understanding, and accurately completing the Production Report according to specifications found in the Quality Control Plan.
  • Measuring and reading samples accurately using a caliper according to the control plan, and recording results.
  • Effectively using a comparator for quality control and recording results.
  • Notifying the shift supervisor if samples are outside of tolerances.
  • Ensuring the hopper is full of raw material and notifying the Shift Supervisor when product is low.
  • Measuring and mixing colorant into raw material to ensure it maintains the appropriate color for the project, specifications found on control plan.
  • Ensuring the work area is clean and maintained to ensure safety.
  • Performing extruder tear down.
  • Setting up new jobs on the extruder, including setting the cutter, putter, and ink jets.
  • Performing screen changes.
  • Care and cleaning of the die and other precision parts.
  • Producing a profile on extruded parts that meets specifications established in the Quality Control Plan on up to 15% of dies.
