About The Position

The production operator is assigned to a specific work area on a production shift and is responsible for the efficient operation of production equipment. The role involves operating an extrusion line and its auxiliary equipment, adjusting machinery to meet manufacturing standards, inspecting products, and maintaining production records. An A-level operator performs the duties required of Production C and B operators and assists in their training. C- or B-level operators perform the duties and standard operating procedures listed in the Quality Manual.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to read, operate, and understand equipment controls and warning devices.

Responsibilities

• Work safely, maintain a safe and clean work environment, and perform available work as required by the supervisor.
• Start up, adjust, and shut down the extruder, haul off, saw, die, oil heater, steam tank, water tank, and auxiliary equipment.
• Read and operate controls and warning devices, and adjust dies, motor RPM, temperatures, and pipe walls to produce products according to manufacturing standards.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records in the computer data system.
• Stay familiar with product standards and specifications.
• Inspect pipe on the production line and inspect each finished pack or reel before adding it to finished inventory.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Start up and shut down an extrusion line.
• Assist in training Production C and B operators as an A-level operator.
• Prepare production reports and maintain records of machine settings.
• Monitor and adjust machines as needed to ensure product quality, safe operation, and optimal production output.
• Perform die changes.
• Perform other duties as required.
