About The Position
The Extra Help/Enterprise Systems Consultant position supports the migration of legacy Banner systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and the structured decommissioning of on-premise Banner environments. This role is focused on project-based work and does not include ongoing operational database administration responsibilities. This position is time-limited and will conclude upon completion of OCI migration and legacy system stabilization. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Requirements
- Extensive experience administering Oracle databases, including Banner ERP environments
- Strong knowledge of database architecture, performance tuning, backup, and recovery processes
- Experience supporting database migrations
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex, legacy enterprise systems
- Ability to document technical processes and support structured knowledge transfer
- Experience in higher education environments required
- An equivalent combination of experience and institutional knowledge will be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
Nice To Haves
- 10+ years of experience in database administration
- Prior experience supporting Banner ERP systems
- Experience with large-scale database migrations or system decommissioning efforts
Responsibilities
- Support the migration of Banner Oracle databases to OCI
- Ensure stability and integrity of the legacy Banner database in a read-only state.
- Perform database validation, backup verification, and recovery readiness checks
- Monitor and tune database performance during and after migration
- Identify and document system dependencies and integration points
- Assist with decommissioning planning and execution for legacy systems
- Provide knowledge transfer and technical documentation to internal IT staff
