About The Position

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is seeking an Extra Help Assistant- Child Care Aide for current and anticipated future openings at the Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center Operations B. This role is designed to supplement the quality of the child care program by providing assistance in the classroom, kitchen, and administrative offices as needed. The childcare aide/substitute will support lead and assistant educators in all classroom management tasks, including providing positive guidance, comforting children, redirecting unsafe activities, actively engaging with children through conversation, listening, and play, and assisting with supervision during indoor and outdoor activities. Responsibilities also include supporting classroom routines such as cleaning, toileting/diapering, hand washing, and serving meals, as well as conducting activities prepared by educators and adhering to all Center policies and standards.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  • At least one year of experience working with young children between the ages of 8 weeks and 5 years
  • Available for regularly scheduled shifts between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Available for on-call shifts to meet the needs of unexpected absences or illnesses
  • Must commit to a minimum of 10 hours a week
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education or training in Early Childhood Education or closely related field
  • At least two or more years working with young children
  • Experience working in a licensed and/or accredited child care center
