This role is within the Jean Tyson Child Development Study Center Operations B Department.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma.
  • At least one year of experience working with young children between the ages of 8 weeks and 5 years.
  • Available for regularly scheduled shifts between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Available for on-call shifts to meet the needs of unexpected absences or illnesses.
  • Must commit to a minimum of 10 hours a week.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education or training in Early Childhood Education or closely related field.
  • At least two or more years working with young children.
  • Experience working in a licensed and/or accredited child care center.

Responsibilities

  • Supplement the quality of the child care program by assisting in the classroom, kitchen, and administrative offices when needed.
  • Assist lead and assistant educators in all tasks related to managing the classroom.
  • Provide positive and effective guidance to children.
  • Comfort children.
  • Redirect unsafe activities to more productive activities.
  • Actively engage with children by talking, listening, and playing with children.
  • Assist teachers in supervision of children during indoor and outdoor play.
  • Assist with all classroom routines including cleaning classroom areas and materials, toileting/diapering, hand washing, and serving meals.
  • Conduct activities with children that are prepared by educators.
  • Follow all Center's policies and standards.
