About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking two External Affairs Representatives to join the Strategic Stakeholder Engagement team. These roles will support major energy infrastructure projects across Dominion Energy's footprint. The positions will be filled at a level commensurate with the candidate's experience. Requirements

  • External Affairs Representative I: 0-2 years of related experience and knowledge of government, public policy, economic development, and communications.
  • External Affairs Representative II: 2-3+ years of related experience and knowledge of government, public policy, economic development, and communications.
  • External Affairs Representative III: 5+ years of related experience and knowledge of government, public policy, economic development, and communications.
  • Experience in consensus building and public speaking.
  • Ability to partner effectively with project teams, Corporate Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, and other internal functions.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and negotiate.
  • Ability to implement strategies that accomplish organization goals and objectives.
  • Ability to achieve results and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree will count as one year towards the experience requirement.
  • A partial year of six months or more will be rounded up to one year.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with development and execution of strategic outreach and stakeholder engagement plans for major energy infrastructure projects.
  • Works in close partnership with internal project teams and Corporate Affairs to support meaningful, transparent, and timely engagement with customers, communities, public officials, Tribal Nations, regulators, landowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Provides coordination across engagement planning, issue management, message alignment, and risk mitigation, while building trusted relationships.
  • Assists with strategic outreach planning for a portfolio of major projects, developing engagement strategies, objectives, stakeholder maps, timelines, and resourcing plans.
  • Assists with design and execution of engagement programs that create meaningful two-way dialogue (e.g., public meetings, open houses, small-group briefings, listening sessions, landowner outreach, digital engagement, and feedback mechanisms).
  • Assists with building and maintaining stakeholder relationships with local governments, community organizations, business leaders, public service commissions/regulators, landowners, NGOs, and other impacted parties.
  • Identifies and manages stakeholder issues and risks, including emerging concerns, misinformation, and community impacts; develop mitigation and response strategies in collaboration with relevant internal departments.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on efforts.
  • Supports team by promoting a high-performing, collaborative team culture focused on integrity, inclusion, and accountability.
