About The Position

This position is 40 hours per week and located in Troy, OH. The Program Assistant works collaboratively with the Miami County Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Educator to design, implement, and evaluate adult financial literacy programs. The Program Assistant will support behavior changes among program participants using motivational techniques, interactive teaching methods, to reach new and existing audiences within the county. This PA position will facilitate engaging and informative courses to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively. Serve as a HUD Approved Homebuyer Education counselor, attaining certification within 6 months from date of hire. This position will require the PA to work with the FCS educator to adapt content to the needs of specific audiences with diverse life skills needs. The ideal candidate will be able to break down life skills and deliver them in a way that is accessible and practical for adults of all backgrounds. In addition, the PA will develop strong community partnerships within Miami County to offer adult life skill and financial programs. The Program Assistant (PA) also works under the guidance of the Agriculture and Natural Resource (ANR) Educator to support the planning, conducting, and administration of the Master Gardener Volunteer Program in Miami County and implements a variety of ANR programming to new and existing audiences utilizing existing curriculum. The PA assures the effective training, utilization, and involvement of Master Gardeners Volunteers (MGV) by working in cooperation the ANR Educator, in accordance with OSU policies and procedures; identifying and disseminating information on MGV volunteer opportunities and assuring that current members meet certification and ongoing participation requirements; assist with outreach efforts to promote the MGV program to the community through various approaches such as community events, social media, newsletters, blogs, and county website; providing administrative support such as maintaining records, and coordinating logistics for events and activities; collaborating with other extension professionals, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community groups, MGV Advisory Board, and MGV members; and engaging in professional development activities to stay updated as related to scope of work.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or vocational training may be required.
  • Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred.
