The County Extension Agent – Agriculture conducts educational programs for county clientele in the areas of agriculture and 4-H youth development. The agent works closely with a broad audience base to solicit support and participation within the county. This role involves maintaining knowledge of the county's social, economic, and political characteristics, acting as a liaison with local leaders and agencies, and staying updated on Arkansas Extension programs. The agent will develop and execute an annual action plan, plan and deliver educational programs, demonstrations, and activities addressing county needs, and provide opportunities for program participation at various levels. Leveraging Extension specialists and research-based information is key to designing and implementing these programs. The agent will respond to clientele inquiries through various communication channels, providing accurate diagnoses and recommendations. Support for the county 4-H program, including educational programming, training, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising, is also a significant part of the role. Measuring program impact through evaluation techniques, compiling and communicating results, and ensuring compliance with civil rights requirements are essential duties. The position requires monthly reporting, collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, and establishing good working relationships. Maintaining knowledge of agricultural production practices through ongoing training and professional development is expected, along with adherence to University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor or district director.
