About The Position

This position provides overall guidance and leadership for 4-H Youth Development programming targeted to meet local and area needs. The role involves implementing and supporting a comprehensive volunteer system through identification, selection, orientation, training, utilization, recognition, and evaluation of adult and youth volunteers. It requires using appropriate methods for community assessment to identify educational needs and opportunities, and communicating effectively with diverse demographics. The Educator will design, implement, and teach educational programming to groups and individuals, work with committees and volunteers, and establish community partnerships. A key responsibility includes designing and implementing a high-quality annual overnight residential 4-H camp and day camping programming, including counselor and volunteer oversight. The role also involves working with county fair boards, replicating existing programs like animal science education and STEM enrichment, and developing promotional materials. Program evaluation and budget management, including securing external funds, are also part of the role. The Educator will participate as a member of Extension teams to further the mission of Ohio State University Extension and 4-H Youth Development, and actively work to ensure diversity and equal access to programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (for Extension Educator 1)
  • Master's Degree (for Extension Educator 2 and 3)

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall guidance and leadership for 4-H Youth Development programming.
