About The Position

This position is located in Portage County, Ravenna, Ohio. The Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development will provide guidance and leadership for 4-H Youth Development programming targeted to local and area needs. This includes implementing and supporting a comprehensive volunteer system through identification, selection, orientation, training, utilization, recognition, and evaluation of adult and youth volunteers. The role involves utilizing appropriate methods for community assessment to identify educational needs and opportunities, and designing, implementing, and teaching educational programming to groups and individuals. The Educator will work with and/or lead committees and volunteers, and establish and maintain partnerships within the community. A key responsibility is designing and implementing high-quality annual overnight residential 4-H camp and day camping programming, including the oversight of teen camp counselors and adult volunteers. The Educator will also work with county fair boards in supporting the county fair and may be required to replicate and adhere to existing programs. Developing promotional material, working with committees and volunteers, and establishing community partnerships are also part of the role. The Educator evaluates educational programs and dissemination methods, and utilizes existing evaluation instruments to assess teaching effectiveness and program quality. Participation in discussions concerning program funding and sharing responsibility for the management of the county budget are expected. The role may also involve securing external funds. The Educator will participate as a member of county, multi-county, and/or state Extension teams to further the mission of Ohio State University Extension and 4-H Youth Development.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's Degree (for Extension Educator 1)
Requires a Master's Degree (for Extension Educator 2)
Requires a Master's Degree and 11+ years of direct or related work experience (for Extension Educator 3)
