Camp Keff Winter Camp Extended Care Counselor
About The Position
Camp Keff Extended Care Counselors help ensure children feel welcome, safe, and cared for through their daily interactions with campers. Under the direction of the Camp Director, counselors support Camp Keff’s programming and contribute to a safe, nurturing environment where youth can play and grow. The role offers an opportunity to positively affect children’s lives while building professional skills and program-planning experience. The seasonal position takes place at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City, California. Scheduled hours are 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. on December 16, 2026, for paid training; 2:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m. December 17–18; 2:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m. December 21–24; and 2:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m. December 28–31. Pay is $18.00 per hour, plus paid training. A free PJCC Athletic Center membership is provided during the days the employee is contracted.
Requirements
- Be passionate about working with youth and creating powerful experiences in a camp setting.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with youth in grades TK–5.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture.
- Experience working in a camp setting.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the emotional and physical safety of children.
- Resolve conflicts within the group as necessary.
- Engage with campers.
- Plan and implement a variety of programs for campers.
- Work collaboratively with other staff.
- Support the goals and spirit of Camp Keff programming.
- Uphold the mission and values of the PJCC and Camp Keff.
