About The Position

The Expo Services role requires a strong understanding of event space needs and the ability to follow detailed instructions. Responsibilities include setting up, taking down, and resetting event spaces for various events held at the DECC, such as expos, conventions, sporting events, and entertainment. This role is part-time and hourly, with hours varying based on event needs, averaging 0-28 hours per week. The pay starts at $16.97/hr, with scheduled increases to $17.51 at 3 months and $18.04 at 6 months, per the union contract.

Successful completion of reference checks.

Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable.
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment.
On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization.
The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire.
The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
At least one year of customer service experience is preferred.
One to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Previous experience and/or training with lifting and moving items is preferred.

Responsibilities

Review detailed event sheets and follow procedures to ensure event areas are set up precisely, to the highest standards, as well as meeting the client’s expectations.
Prepare, set up, and remove tables, chairs, and pipes and drapes for conventions, banquets, trade shows, meetings, and other events scheduled at the DECC.
Assist DECC clients in the set-up of their events and provide courteous help and/or directions to guests, and vendors as needed.
Respond quickly to requests for additional and unexpected room set ups and tasks as needed.
Assist with facility cleaning and other related duties as needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
