About The Position

Orica is hiring an Explosives Blaster for its Orica USA Commercial team in Charlestown, Indiana. The role is responsible for the daily loading and firing of blasts and for supporting, mentoring, and developing team skills to meet mining service needs and agreed business goals. The position involves building customer relationships and working at customer sites to provide products and services while representing Orica through safe, professional, and efficient customer contact. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with early starts at approximately 6 a.m. The role involves local driving up to approximately three hours from Charlestown, Indiana, and may require extended work hours. Priorities may change rapidly, so flexibility is required. The work takes place outdoors in all types of weather and involves substantial physical activity.

Requirements

Minimum 1–3 years of blasting experience, including demonstrated blasting talent.
Knowledge of non-electric and electronic detonators and experience with packaged and bulk explosives.
Working knowledge of mining, quarrying, construction, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems and technologies.
Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and teamwork in a field-based environment.
Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Class B CDL with tank and hazmat endorsements required.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and carry 50 pounds or more; load products, pull large hoses, fill holes, climb on and off the truck, shovel gravel, push and pull equipment, and frequently bend and squat.
Ability to manage moderate physical demands in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Blaster license preferred, with the ability to acquire one locally.
Experience in quarry blasting is a plus.
