About The Position

The Doe Run Company is seeking an Exploration Geologist to utilize field and software techniques, along with geostatistical modeling, to aid in the discovery and development of mineral exploration up to the advanced drill/evaluation stage. This position is located at the Exploration division in Viburnum, MO. The role is posted at the Exploration Geologist II level, but candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of geological experience, may consider graduate experience.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically spreadsheets and databases, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Proficient knowledge of geological mineralization, economic geology, and geological interpretation.
  • Proficient in basic geological skills of core logging and data analytics.
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Proficient knowledge of writing/creating reports.
  • Excellent analysis, observation, and decision-making skills.
  • Basic knowledge of safety, occupational hazards, and environmental compliance.
  • Must maintain valid, current driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • AcQuire Database or similar drilling database knowledge preferred.
  • Vulcan or similar geological modeling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Model geology in assigned project areas using 3D modeling software.
  • Generate exploration targets for surface diamond drilling.
  • Log project area holes.
  • Lead surface drilling program (rotary and diamond drilling) in the various phases: hole spotting, road and site prep, rotary drilling, diamond drilling, and pipe pulling/reclamation.
  • Utilize various geological software programs to analyze data and write detailed, accurate, concise, and technical field reports in assigned project areas.
  • Assist with the annual resource calculation process and the audits.
  • Resource map creation followed by auditing resource maps and both the block and pillar resource databases, assembling data for annual resource estimate calculations.
  • Compile data for block resource database reconciliation and assemble final data.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
