About The Position

As an Expert Group Underwriter, you will work within a team of skilled and energetic employees like yourself. You will collaborate with the Group Insurance Pricing team to ensure that Medavie Blue Cross achieves its financial objectives for group health, life, and disability insurance sectors. You will support pricing for large and complex corporate groups, respond to internal and external inquiries, mentor underwriters, and contribute to strategic initiatives and process improvements. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in the field of business administration, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or finance.
  • 10-15 years progressive Group Underwriting experience including different funding -arrangements and corporate groups.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and decision‑making abilities
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills
  • Team‑oriented with strong negotiation skills
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required to meet business needs

Responsibilities

  • Establish renewal and quote pricing for large and complex groups
  • Analyze experience and trends to support pricing recommendations and long‑term feasibility
  • Respond to internal and external client inquiries related to pricing, experience and plan design
  • Conduct peer reviews, coaching and mentoring for underwriting staff
  • Participate and/or lead projects and process‑improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and/or review ASO and Retention financial statements and agreements
  • Provide underwriting input to management and business partners
