The Gas Decarbonization Engineer, part of the Decarbonization Strategy team, will lead technology identification, evaluation, technical analysis, and project management activities that advance commercial and industrial decarbonization in support of PG&E’s net‑zero emissions goals. This role focuses on assessing and developing cost-effective solutions to decarbonize the PG&E gas system (front of meter) and customer end‑use equipment (behind the meter). The Engineer will collaborate with various PG&E departments, external stakeholders, and customers. They will independently manage engineering engagements with third‑party firms and support the team with technical and techno‑economic analyses using tools such as Excel, Forge, or similar platforms. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who can navigate ambiguity, proactively shape their own work, and help bring structure to evolving problem spaces. They must be able to respectfully and collaboratively drive progress, provide clear technical guidance, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA. PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum to the midpoint of the range. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above.
