About The Position

VCA Seaside Animal Hospital in Calabash, North Carolina, is seeking a full-time Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join its AAHA-accredited general practice. This is an opportunity to work with a growing team of doctors in a well-regarded hospital and develop your skills with the support of the team. The hospital has digital whole-body and dental radiology, cold laser therapy, ultrasonography, and a dedicated surgical suite. The ideal candidate is a mature, dependable, positive team player and multitasker with excellent communication skills, an interest in career progression, and a strong interest in becoming a leader. The position requires prior experience in surgery, anesthesia, and nursing care. Experienced assistants are expected to think analytically about patient needs and disease processes to provide high-quality care. Compensation is $16.00–$18.00 per hour, based on skill set, experience, and licensure status.

Requirements

Prior experience in surgery, anesthesia, and nursing care is required.
Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Credentialing as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT) is noted as an applicable background, but the posting also welcomes technicians in training.
Licensure status may be considered in determining compensation.

Responsibilities

Perform patient assessment and support patient recovery.
Administer IV fluids and calculate CRIs.
Use hands-free radiology and diagnostic imaging.
Communicate with clients and provide discharge information.
Think analytically about patient needs and disease processes to deliver high-quality care.
