Experience & Concept Design Strategist

State Farm•Dunwoody, GA

About The Position

State Farm is seeking an Experience & Concept Design Strategist to turn high-value opportunities into tangible, testable customer or digital experience concepts. Using experience strategy, service design, and rapid prototyping, the role demonstrates what an improved experience could look like before it is built. The strategist owns the concept and prototype and works within Digital Growth Engine, a team focused on replacing guesswork with evidence. Emerging Concepts identifies and shapes growth opportunities, makes them tangible, and partners with experimentation and delivery teams to test, learn, and scale successful ideas. This is a hybrid position. Selected candidates will be assigned to a facility and work both in the office and from home. For Enterprise Technology, the arrangement will require approximately 40% in-office time each month, beginning in late 2027. Hub locations are Richardson, Texas; Bloomington, Illinois; Tempe, Arizona; and Dunwoody, Georgia. Applicants must be immediately eligible to work lawfully in the United States; State Farm will not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this opportunity.

Requirements

  • Experience in experience strategy, service design, product design, or concept development.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to turn ambiguous opportunities into coherent future-state experiences.
  • Hands-on experience with Figma or similar tools, including journeys, flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
  • Ability to use research and customer feedback to pressure-test concepts and surface hidden assumptions.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to make complex ideas clear and compelling to executives and delivery teams.
  • Must be eligible to lawfully work in the United States immediately; employer sponsorship for U.S. work authorization is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a large, regulated company and navigating privacy, security, and legal requirements.
  • Background in insurance, financial services, or digital customer experience.
  • Experience thriving in cross-functional, pod-based teams and moving work from idea to reality.
  • A preference for measurable outcomes and clear documentation over busywork.

Responsibilities

  • Translate customer and digital needs and business context into future-state journeys and concept directions.
  • Build clear, compelling prototypes in Figma or similar tools to make opportunities tangible without prematurely designing a finished product.
  • Use service design and systems thinking to connect customer and digital needs to channels, operations, and technology.
  • Partner with research, product, and engineering teams to test assumptions and learn quickly and efficiently from real customers.
  • Explore AI-assisted, conversational, and other emerging interaction models when they genuinely improve the experience.
  • Balance ambition with evidence by honestly weighing business value, feasibility, risk, and accessibility.
  • Create executive-ready visuals that clearly communicate concepts, alternatives, and open questions.
  • Turn priority opportunities into testable concepts quickly enough to sharpen real decisions.
  • Ensure concepts communicate intended customer or digital value, key assumptions, and meaningful alternatives.
  • Provide delivery partners with concepts that preserve strategic intent while leaving room to learn.
  • Prioritize customers and measurable outcomes, make tradeoffs visible, build partnerships across business and technology, share learnings, and uphold data privacy, security, and ethics.
