About The Position

The Expense Pharmacy Coordinator will oversee purchasing surveillance at MUHA pharmacies, working in conjunction with area leaders. This role is responsible for developing, preparing and maintaining quality data analytics that will be utilized by leadership and management across various settings and promote new opportunities for the organization, thus enhancing efficiency and resulting in optimal revenue. Additionally, this coordinator will assist in daily operations in the pharmacy distribution center as needed.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
  • Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

  • Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate purchasing surveillance in pharmacy locations.
  • In collaboration with the Pharmacy Distribution Center Director and 340B Coordinator, ensure the Pharmacy ICCE is adequately adhering to all medication procurement contract requirements and correcting an contract issues that arise.
  • Utilize procurement related software programs to examine purchasing data, identifying negative purchasing trends and communicate with area leaders to curb extra spend.
  • Participation in cost savings, performance, and quality improvement projects
  • Identify and track direct purchase opportunities for cost savings initiatives and/or mitigation of shortages.
  • Participation in multiple business review meetings
  • In collaboration with Pharmacy Distribution Center Director, reporting out updates on all initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Assist areas with gathering and analyzing inventory level information and assist pharmacy areas by identifying opportunities to increase inventory turns and make recommendations on inventory levels and re-order points/quantities.
  • In collaboration with the PharmIS team, continued implementation and maintenance of electronic inventory systems throughout the MUSC system.
  • Overseeing the pharmacy analysist to assist in reporting out data to senior leadership about opportunities and initiatives underway.
