About The Position

This role is responsible for meeting customer needs and ensuring timely shipments. The position has three levels of classification (C, B, and A), with increasing responsibilities and requirements at each level. The Expeditor C is responsible for preparing daily orders, documenting shortages and ship dates, entering orders into a ship log, and communicating discrepancies to customer service. As the role progresses to B and A levels, responsibilities expand to include examining orders for completeness and accuracy, reviewing production schedules, coordinating with customer service on priorities and schedules, resolving discrepancies, preparing shipping labels and documentation, and managing various shipping methods.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Previous shipping experience
  • Reliable, punctual, attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills, fluent in AS400, Microsoft (email and excel)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
  • C-Level Job Classification qualifications
  • B-Level Job Classification qualifications (all C-level plus 30 days of satisfactory work performance)
  • A-Level Job Classification qualifications (all C and B-level plus 60 days of satisfactory work performance)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare new daily orders with pallet counts.
  • Document shortages per each order.
  • Document ship dates.
  • Record shortages, ship dates, and delivery due dates into status report.
  • Enter new orders into the ship log.
  • Email all discrepancies the orders may have to customer service.
  • Schedule any upcoming delivery appointments through online websites, email, or by calling.
  • Record appointments into ship log.
  • Examine orders and material to confirm completeness and accuracy of order.
  • Review documents such as production schedules to determine material requirements and material priorities.
  • Discuss material shortages and shipping schedule with scheduling.
  • Provide documentation and information to account for delays, shortages, and changes.
  • Coordinate with customer service to ensure desired priorities and schedules are met.
  • Assist customer service with delivery status and discrepancies after delivery.
  • Assure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents.
  • Resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare pallet labels for shipping.
  • Submit ASN.
  • Prepare Bill of Lading.
  • Prepare FedEx and UPS small packaging shipments.
  • Retrieve PODs from trucking companies.
