About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant supports doctors and provides clinical assistance while helping deliver patient-centered dental care. The role includes charting, assisting with fillings and other procedures, preparing and cleaning operatories, and educating patients. Expanded duties must be performed in accordance with applicable state regulations and requirements. The assistant also records and reviews patient health histories, completes chart entries and forms under the doctor's direction, and updates patient treatment plans as directed by the treating provider. The posted pay range is $34+ depending on experience. The stated schedule is Monday 7:45 a.m.–6:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch, Tuesday through Thursday 7:45 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch, and Friday 7:45 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Requirements

EFDA certification or on-the-job training, as required by state requirements.
Radiography licensure as required by the respective state.
CPR certification.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of dental charting software and digital X-rays, with the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

Nice To Haves

1–5 years of experience preferred; new graduates will be considered.

Responsibilities

Assist doctors with charting, placement of fillings, operatory setup and cleanup, and patient education.
Perform expanded duties in accordance with state regulations and compliance requirements.
Assist with clinical procedures and treatment, including placing amalgam or composite fillings, adapting temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments, subject to state requirements.
Record and review patient health histories, make chart entries under the doctor's direction, and ensure forms and signatures are completed in dental software.
Enter and update patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating provider.
