About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant supports doctors in delivering patient-centered dental care and helps ensure patients have a positive experience. The role assists with clinical procedures, patient education, dental charting, treatment-plan updates, and operatory preparation and cleanup. Expanded duties must be performed in accordance with applicable state regulations and compliance requirements. The practice is supported by North American Dental Group and emphasizes empathy, individualized care, and opportunities for career growth and continuing education.

The stated schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with some Fridays.

Requirements

• EFDA certification required.
• Radiography licensure in accordance with respective state requirements.
• CPR certification required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of dental charting software and digital X-rays, with the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

Nice To Haves

• 1–5 years of experience preferred; new graduates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist doctors with charting, placement of fillings, operatory setup and cleanup, and patient education.
• Perform expanded duties in accordance with state regulations and compliance requirements.
• Assist with clinical procedures and treatment, including placing amalgam or composite fillings, adapting temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments, subject to state requirements.
• Record and review patient health histories, make chart entries under the doctor's direction, and ensure forms and signatures are completed in dental software.
• Enter and update patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating provider.
