About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) works closely with the dentist and clinical team to provide efficient, high-quality patient care. The role involves expanded-function dental assisting within the scope of applicable state laws and regulations, supporting clinical procedures, maintaining patient records and a safe, organized clinical environment, and helping patients understand treatment and post-operative care. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to exceptional patient care and teamwork.

Requirements

• EFDA certification as required by state requirements.
• Radiography licensure as required by the respective state.
• CPR certification.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Knowledge of dental charting software and digital X-rays, with the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

• 1–5 years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform expanded-function dental assisting duties within the scope of applicable state laws and regulations.
• Assist the dentist with restorative, preventive, and other clinical procedures.
• Prepare teeth, instruments, materials, and treatment rooms for procedures.
• Take radiographs, impressions, digital scans, and other diagnostic records as directed.
• Provide authorized preventive services such as sealants and fluoride treatments.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records.
• Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, sterilization, and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environment.
• Educate patients regarding treatment procedures and appropriate post-operative care.
• Communicate effectively with the dentist and dental team to support efficient patient flow and excellent patient care.
• Maintain dental instruments, equipment, and clinical supplies.
• Maintain all required EFDA credentials, certifications, and continuing education.
