The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking an Exotic Animal Veterinarian for a Full-Time or Part-Time Faculty, Open Rank position. The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical and surgical care for zoological companion animal patients and contribute to the development of a modern academic Zoo & Exotics Service. Initial responsibilities will focus on clinical service development, curriculum design, learner preparation, and hospital operations. As the DVM program matures, the role will evolve to include structured clinical teaching and supervision, with anticipated student participation in approximately two years. The university is looking for clinicians with outstanding medical and surgical expertise, excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a passion for collaborative practice and veterinary education. This role is ideal for veterinarians who thrive in hands-on clinical practice, enjoy working with a diverse range of zoological companion animal species (particularly small mammals and birds), value excellence in teaching and mentorship, enjoy collaborating with specialists, are energized by innovation and building new programs, and want to help shape the future of veterinary education. Faculty joining during SSVM's startup phase will play a foundational role in developing pre-clinical exotic animal curriculum, establishing clinical workflows and service identity, and preparing for formal clinical teaching.
