About The Position

Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network is the premier rehabilitation provider in Connecticut, offering services across the continuum of care including acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and community settings. With over 40 outpatient locations, they provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy in various specialties. The Westport Outpatient Rehab Clinic, a flagship location, is connected to the Ayer Neuroscience Spine Wellness center and is part of a multidisciplinary team focused on improving patient health through rehabilitation, pain management, physical medicine, integrative medicine, fitness, nutrition, and behavioral health services. The clinic features private treatment spaces and state-of-the-art gyms, and offers specialty programs in areas such as Balance & Falls, Cancer Rehabilitation, Complex Spine, Concussion, Dry Needling, Gender-Affirming Rehab, Headache Management, Chronic Pain Management, Pelvic Health, Sports Medicine, Thoracic Outlet, and Vestibular Therapy. The Exercise Physiologist implements and supervises physical exercise programs for patients.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Exercise Physiology / Science or related degree
  • Basic monitor interpretation skills
  • Must successfully pass dysrhythmia class within 3 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. preferred
  • ACSM Clinical Certification Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
  • Plans and teaches exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitors patient's response and revises plan accordingly.
  • Recognizes contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provides exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
  • Collaborates with physician regarding the exercise prescription for each patient. Maintains in-depth knowledge of monitoring and arrhythmia identification.
  • Preparation of report on individual patient to appropriate physician. Appropriately charts progress in Medical Records. Maintains appropriate documentation of patient care.
  • Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the departmental equipment. Maintains equipment in optimal functioning condition in accordance with manufactures guidelines. provide staff with educational in-service for proper and safe use of equipment.
