About The Position

The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for assessing patient health risks, needs, and interests. They will assist the RN with patient assessment on admission to the program and aid in the development of comprehensive individualized exercise programs. The role involves conducting fitness evaluations, developing tailored exercise prescriptions, and providing instruction for safe and effective exercise performance to improve functional capacity and lower cardiovascular risk factors for individuals with cardiac disease. Additionally, the Exercise Physiologist will complete shift assignments for equipment maintenance, provide administrative support such as assisting with registration, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and organizing charts, and participate in strategies to meet business initiatives and unit/team/program/department goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 months’ experience with cardiac rehab preferred
  • EP-C – Certified Exercise Physiologist Upon Hire preferred.
  • RCEP - Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient health risks, needs, and interests.
  • Assist RN with patient assessment on admission to the program and assist with the development of comprehensive individualized exercise program.
  • Conducts fitness evaluations in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Develops exercise prescriptions/programs tailored to the unique needs and interests of the client and in accordance with department guidelines.
  • Provides instruction necessary for the safe and effective performance of exercise activities, and promotion of secondary prevention to individuals who are limited by cardiac disease to improve functional capacity and lower cardiovascular risk factors.
  • Completes shift assignments for equipment maintenance, and all other tasks related to maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Provides administrative support as needed, including but not limited ta assisting patients with registration for cardiac rehab, receiving phone calls, providing information on cardiac rehab services, scheduling appointments, organizing charts, etc.
  • Participates in strategies to meet business initiatives and unit/team, program, and department specific goals and targets.
