The Exercise Physiologist - Cardiac Rehab is responsible for interpreting physiological data from stress tests to create individualized exercise prescriptions. This role involves collaborating with physicians on program eligibility and progression, establishing and presenting health education programs on exercise and risk factor reduction, and participating in patient conferences. The position also requires promoting the rehabilitation program through relationships with referral sources, placing electrodes for cardiac monitoring, counseling patients on home exercise programs, and assisting in cardiac emergencies. Additionally, the Exercise Physiologist may mentor staff for certification, serve as a hospital consultant in exercise physiology, and monitor outpatient cardiac rehabilitation exercise groups. The role involves patient positioning and transporting duties requiring physical exertion and adherence to age-specific care standards.
