About The Position

The Regional Vice President of Operations is responsible for the overall operational leadership, performance, and safety of all American Welding & Gas locations within an assigned geographic region. This role has full accountability for operational execution, safety compliance, customer service, financial performance, and talent development across branches, plants, fill facilities, and distribution operations. The RVP Operations plays a critical role in executing AWG’s operating strategy, driving consistency and continuous improvement, and supporting both organic growth and acquisition integration while maintaining AWG’s entrepreneurial culture and high safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, business, engineering or other related field
  • 10+ years of previous management experience
  • Proven ability to work effectively under deadlines with little supervision and to complete a high volume of paperwork accurately and on time
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Effective verbal communication and rapport building skills
  • Successful track record of managing an operation and employees
  • Goal oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to lead and function with team environments

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of relevant welding supply and gas industry experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory of propane cylinders as well as bulk propane
  • Ensures maintenance of all equipment, facility and cylinders
  • Ensures adequate staffing of personnel for manufacturing, storing and moving propane cylinders; includes participating in the hiring process and scheduling
  • Ensures all safety rules are strictly enforced and safety training is regularly scheduled, conducted and documented.
  • Ensure plant personnel are trained properly. This includes updating and maintaining training files, monthly safety talks, SOPs, and quality control training
  • Ensures appropriate storage and segregation of both empty/full cylinders
  • Reviews paperwork for completeness and accuracy
  • Analyzes and/or quarantines cylinders to ensure quality and accuracy of gas prior to release for shipment; ensures analysis of bulk tank
  • Maintains inventory of cylinders for retest as well as to other vendors
  • Ensures compliance with DOT, HazMat, OSHA and other regulatory agencies
  • Personnel management including hiring/firing, coaching, evaluation and staff development
  • Ensure employee complaints, conflicts and suggestions are effectively reviewed and managed
  • Other duties as assigned
