About The Position

Zurich North America has established a strong Middle Market operation over the last five years, serving key U.S. industries. We are seeking dedicated Middle Market leaders and underwriters with deep understanding of this sector and its unique challenges. This role focuses on the Private Equity team in the South region, based in our Dallas/Addison office. The position requires marketplace visibility to engage with agents and brokers, with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office/marketplace. The role involves acting as a customer advocate to enhance customer experience by understanding their risks and providing optimal insurance solutions for their Middle Market Private Equity needs. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with broker partners and customers across industries, leveraging underwriting expertise in risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to build a profitable book of business, and collaborating with various departments such as claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting. The role also involves utilizing technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with distribution partners in an assigned territory. The position will be filled at either the Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director level, determined by the selected applicant's experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support are
  • AND Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • OR AVP Underwriting Director Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  • OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with brokers partners and customers across all industries in support of business objectives.
  • Leverage Private Equity underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
  • Work collaboratively across business units including but not limited to; claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting while gaining extensive knowledge in a growing and innovative industry.
  • Use technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.
