About The Position

Zurich North America has established a strong Middle Market operation serving key industries across the U.S. and is seeking dedicated Middle Market leaders and underwriters. This role, based in Dallas, TX, offers a hybrid work arrangement with the expectation of being in the office or market three days per week. The position involves serving as a customer advocate, focusing on improving customer experience by understanding unique risks and providing Property & Casualty insurance solutions. The role requires developing and maintaining relationships with broker partners and customers, leveraging underwriting acumen for risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to manage a profitable book of business. Collaboration with various internal departments such as claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting is expected. The role also involves using technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with distribution partners in an assigned territory. The specific level, Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter, will be determined by the selected applicant's experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
  • Underwriting Specialist Required Qualifications: Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
  • Executive Underwriter Required Qualifications: Experience working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries in support of business objectives.
  • Leverage Property and Casualty underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
  • Work collaboratively across business units including but not limited to; claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting while gaining extensive knowledge in a growing and innovative industry.
  • Use technical underwriting, negotiation and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory.
