About The Position

Westchester Environmental is seeking an Executive Underwriter to support its Midwest & West Regions. This role focuses on underwriting, managing, and growing a book of business primarily consisting of Environmental Contractors/Consultants package, manufacturers products pollution, monoline premises pollution, and contractors’ pollution liability accounts. The underwriter will be responsible for marketing to brokers, collaborating with regional management and business development teams to align with Westchester Environmental's growth and profit strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 Years Underwriting experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience in the wholesale/E&S insurance industry
  • Experience in underwriting environmental lines of business, including Commercial General Liability, Contractors Pollution Liability, Professional Liability, Site Pollution Liability, Excess Liability, Business Auto
  • Ability to review and analyze environmental due diligence
  • Ability to review, evaluate, and develop coverage forms and endorsements
  • Negotiation & presentation skills
  • Proven broker relations & customer management skill set
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, share knowledge, and develop staff
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Technical capabilities (ability to work comfortably with various IT systems)

Responsibilities

  • Soliciting new and renewal submissions from appointed wholesaler brokers.
  • Handling and understanding wholesale submission volume.
  • Determining terms and conditions and complex rating plans.
  • Quoting and binding coverage.
  • Documenting underwriting files to company/division expectations.
  • Handling files and portfolios within underwriting authority.
  • Achieving given production goals and utilizing department resources.
  • Conducting local and regional broker visitations/travel.
  • Presenting and communicating Chubb/Westchester products and marketing materials.
  • Delivering upon established New and Renewal business goals.
  • Executing assigned roles per regional marketing plans and strategies.
  • Managing client & broker relations, including sales calls & strategies.
  • Completing target account responsibilities & cross-sell strategies.
  • Adhering to all underwriting standards, guidelines, authorities, and position papers.
  • Offering coverage, terms, and conditions that generate profit while meeting customer needs.
  • Identifying risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls.
  • Selecting risks based on exposure and risk analysis.
  • Analyzing claims and quantifying losses.
