About The Position

The Executive Team Leader GM & Grocery (Assistant Manager General Merchandise and Grocery) role at Target focuses on enabling a consistent guest experience by ensuring product availability, accuracy in pricing and signing, and efficient operations within the Food & Beverage and General Merchandise departments. This position involves leading a team to achieve sales goals, maintain high standards of guest service, and manage inventory and operational processes. The role provides opportunities for team members to develop skills in guest service, business management, and leadership within a dynamic retail environment.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand the impact of departments and team on overall profitability.
  • Model guest service standards and lead the team to ensure a fresh, full, and food-safe area.
  • Drive a culture centered in food safety, including training, validation, and coaching on standards and cleaning routines.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture that prioritizes guest experience and store sales goals.
  • Lead an efficient operation to support the sales culture.
  • Develop strategies and utilize workload planning tools to manage scheduled tasks and ensure guest readiness.
  • Own the scheduling plan in partnership with Team Leaders, considering business workload and guest traffic.
  • Manage Food & Beverage backroom and sales floor areas, assessing priorities and identifying business gaps.
  • Oversee Food & Beverage Team Leaders' workload planning, including transitions, revisions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
  • Build relationships with direct to store vendors and oversee Team Leaders' management of vendor performance.
  • Validate, audit, and maintain food in-stocks and follow up on Team Leaders' execution of business plans.
  • Assess the competition and leverage guest insights to drive business and become the destination of choice.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
  • Manage the team to uphold Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards (where applicable).
  • Foster a productive relationship with the Starbucks District Manager and follow up on key takeaways.
  • Plan, lead, and follow up on organizational and operational changes.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in unique store trends.
  • Actively develop, coach, and train the team, anticipating staffing needs and planning for talent acquisition.
  • Develop and coach the team to elevate their skills and expertise.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Become a subject matter expert in federal, state, and local adult beverage laws and protect the store's liquor license (if applicable).
  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets guest needs.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, and hold the team accountable.
  • As a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes.
  • Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
